One Year in US

4th Sept 2010 the day when I arrived in US with some expectations, some nervousness some assumptions and some hopes. It was one of the difficult movements in my life to be at airport and say bye to Dad and my Brother. There was happiness as well as sadness, i know this happens to everyone. Travel started from India -Mumbai with flight delayed by 2 Hours , I was tensed and was worried about my next flights as I had two stops flights, finally travel started. When I was looking down from flight when I started from Mumbai I know it was dark still I was seeing green lands and map of India , just like Shah Rukh sees India when he arrived in India in Swades, I know its too filmy but truly that was the feeling. Finally I arrived in US at Detroit Airport. Now it was time for immigration check and I was nervous and worried if they reject me from this place and I will be sent back to india , I should answer their questions properly and all other stuffs. This was effect of watching too many movies and news :-)

Finally immigration was cleared without any chaos and I was very happy to confirm my arrival in US. But in this all I missed my flight from Detroit to Minneapolis, I went to airways and they arranged the next flight immediately and finally after all this I was at MSP airport. First thing I saw in US after airport was Indian Store and I was surprised and happy to see all the things which I see in India are available on first of arrival. I bought some stuff. Now the next destination was corporate apartment where my initial stay was arranged. I was excited as well as worried if I will be alone in corporate apartment or I will be with somebody. Worry was not around staying with somebody it was around staying alone. When I arrived at corporate apartment seeing the condition of apartment I was happy and worried too. Now this worry was seeing the condition of the apartment, nothing was at right place, just like hostel room.

And this was the start of my journey in US. Some expectations are met but some were not, some assumptions were correct some were way far, now there was no nervousness and more hopes.

In this one year I had amazing time, embarrassing time, extraordinary time and so many other times. Professionally I have grown from strength to strength, more than that I have grown personally as well. I have become stronger than I was. In my opinion most of us travel to onsite assignment because of monitory benefit. I also came for same but now there is one more angle to this one is working environment. Here working environment is so different than we are used to in offshore. Definitely organizations tried and trying to make same working environment at offshore but some how it is not that effectively changed.

Anyways I don't want to make this boring just telling about work only. I had some amazing trips in this one whole one year, it started with Duluth in 2010 , awesome trip with awesome experience of planning it. We were awake till early morning on the day when we were starting to just book hotel and.... finally we managed it.
Staying awake for almost whole night became worth when we entered into natures own paintings with nature's colors. I am always pleasantly surprised to see how many colors nature has that we can not even imagine. Amazing and colorful in true sense.

Next amazing trip or I should say camping, first time ever I went to a state park and we put tent , we stayed their for whole night in very cold environment I know its common in saint paul but we were in tent not in heated apartment :). Road which we drove to was such a good drive, and after reaching state park we saw whole greenery , trees and sounds of birds which available in Minnesota for very limited period but thanks to My friends who panned this amazing camping , it was really refreshing trip truly in company of nature.

Then we went to WINDY CITY, Chicago, This was amazing in many sense. The Company I had, drive which I did and Windy City. Total of 395 miles one sided completely driven by me in my Car, WOW.. what an experience to have. The most exciting part of Chicago was seeing Chicago City from 1,353 ft or 412 m from the Sears Tower. It was such an experience that I can not even articulate in words, it was just mind-blowing. Standing on Ledges on the Sears Tower , its threatening, exciting and interesting as well. In all this trip was an experience in itself with different shades.

When I look at this last one year and start asking my self what I gained , what I lost and what I missed. Then my mind start fighting between goods and bads. I gained good knowledge, became strong, earned money. what I lost, experience of Pune, Kokan rain , going to office in tremendous traffic etc. What I missed, my family, my friends ,Pune and India.

All n all it is just wonderful one year and I thank god for giving such a life where I can experience so many things.

This is my first ever blog in life, I know there is too much scope for improvement and I will try to improve in my next one.

Have a good time all... God Bless....
